Not too long ago, we brought to your attention the hauntingly sweet voice of Ari Lennox, the songstress of the Dreamville Records power team. This CreaTeam is comprised of six different talents, all with a different flow and contribution. Of the six artists, it can be argued that one of them brings an intensity and heat to the balance of the group…his name is Cozz.
Unlike the bulk of other artists UxU has covered, Cozz hails from the West Coast. A native of South Central, LA, Cozz was signed to Dreamville in 2013. He has since released a list of bangers including “Dreams”, “Knock the Hustle” and “Cody Macc.”

What’s most striking is Cozz’s gritty stance on life and success in his lyrics. He’s raw and unapologetic, bringing a diversity to the Dreamville team. If you listen closely, the soul in Cozz’s music is somewhat similar to that of J. Cole’s while his flow is reminiscent of Meek…minus the yelling of course… Could that be irony or foreshadowing?

Cozz’s first project, “Cozz & Effect,” was initially intended to be a mixtape but was just, well…too damn good. It became his first debut album released by Dreamville. However, Cozz’s most recent project is 13-track mixtape entitled, “Nothing Personal,” and it includes a feature with fellow Dreamville Records mate, Tabs.
