What would you get if Sza + Frank Ocean had a flower bomb baby?
This slept-on music sensation is a Washington, DC native that is slowly but surely zooming to the top spot. Recently signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records, Ari has but a handful of original tracks on Soundcloud including those on her first EP "Ariography." However, the few that can be heard are of a vibey transparence, specifically her song entitled "La La La La".
Ari’s rise to recognition started with some of her most known cover’s, including that of Xscape’s Who Can I Run To and Otis Redding’s Dock of the Bay, all of which can be found on her YouTube page.
Those were back in the latter parts of 2011 and 2013. Here and now years later, Ari has landed a following of thousands that is quickly increasing as the days go by. Her quirky personality shines through in her performances matching a heartfelt, indie-tinged voice.
Ari's personal lyrics, soulful repertoire, and "feel good" rhythms are reminiscent of the channelORANGE album, while her hauntingly sweet voice pushes through your speakers. She's honest, and needless to say she's not afraid to be. Within every stanza, Ari pours out more of herself, and with a clever riff to go along with it.
The girl is DEEP. *cues crowd snaps*
Ari has been featured on Omen’s project, Elephant Eyes, and has since landed herself a spot on the collective project Revenge of the Dreamers II with some of Dreamville Records’ heavy hitters, including the great J. Cole himself. We can only expect for it all to go up from here. Be on the lookout for more great projects from rising songstress Ari Lennox in the near future…maybe even a UxU interview? Stay tuned!
Ari…keep being you, keep doing you, and remain UxU. We all support you.
